Photography used to be something you had to remember to buy film for: listen out for the little click of your last exposure, see unexpected images, ugly scenes and faces. If you’re anything like me and lament the lost days of photos you can touch, then World Through a Plastic Lens v4: Ludlites Love Water at Blender Gallery is a must-see. Low-fi photographic equipment — the oversized plastic Holga and Diana cameras originating in Hong Kong — is the Ludlites' saviour: “We have all become numbed with photography, there is no denying it, but a chunky camera made almost entirely of plastic has been put on this earth to save us."
The Ludlites, a group made up of photographers (artistic and commercial), a cinematographer, designer, publicist, IT professional, gallery owner and financier, reconvene for their fourth photographic exploration, this one of all things aquatic.
