Concrete Playground

As usual MOP delivered a stellar exhibition program in 2009. Three of a perfect pair - what a highlight! But it's costly to run a non-commercial gallery. Not that MOP complains. Or asks for the world. It just closes off every year with a brilliant fundraiser. This year it's Bucket - with a plethora of artworks from Sydney's artists, no bigger than A3 in size, all priced at $50. Amazing. Always wanted a (insert local artist here) but shy away from the price tag? Bucket. Looking for the best Christmas gift ever? Bucket. Or, simply enjoy irritating people by buying something they want before they can? yep, Bucket.

The list of now established artists who have passed through MOP is astounding, so you can be sure some of them will be feeling benevolent. There'll also be lots of fresh-ish faces in the mix (undoubtedly the next crop of established artists). Plus, the A3/$50 guidelines ensures a general lightness of touch that always delivers a serious gem or two.

Stuff your pockets with pineapples, and be there early with your steak knives out and at the ready! Also, if you would like to donate work, talk to MOP.
